SaaS Platforms & Cloud-Based Frameworks — frequently asked questions
Shared database or a database per tenant?
Most products start on a shared schema with tenant-scoped row access, which is cheaper to run and simpler to migrate. Isolated databases per tenant come in when a contract, a regulator, or a very large customer requires them.
How do you handle billing and subscriptions?
Through a dedicated provider such as Stripe rather than hand-rolled logic, wired to your plan structure, trials, proration, and dunning. Invoices, tax handling, and failed-payment recovery are treated as product surface, not an afterthought.
What does the platform cost to run?
We size infrastructure against your projected load and give you the monthly figure before building, then set budget alerts and autoscaling bounds so a traffic spike or a runaway job cannot quietly multiply the bill.
Can it be moved between cloud providers later?
The application layer stays portable — containers, infrastructure as code, and standard managed services. We flag anywhere a provider-specific feature is worth the lock-in so the trade is a decision you made, not one you discover.
